Animals at the Marion County Fair
Indianapolis – While the Marion County Fair is not far from downtown Indianapolis there is no lack of interesting animals to see. Each year at the Marion County Fair there are a variety of animals all around the fairgrounds. Between the petting zoo, the animal competitions and the 4-H shows, you’re bound to see an abundance of animals.
Be sure to visit the petting zoo where you visit with your favorite animals, you can even see a camel! You are able to pet and admire these cute cuddlers throughout the fair. Carrots are available to purchase so you can feed the animals!
There will also be a variety of animal competitions going on during the fair including a poultry show on June 16, pigeon show on June 24, serama poultry show on June 23, a sheep show on June 23, and a swine show on June 16. The 4-H has multiple events throughout the fair showcasing some spectacular animals. On Saturday June 16 the 4-H Horse Show (English Jumping and Versatility) will be from 12pm-7pm. There will be contesting on Tuesday June 19 from 5pm-7pm, a 4-H Dog training demos on Thursday June 21st from 6:30-9pm, and a 4-H Small Animal Showcase presented by the Central Indiana Veterinary Medical Association and much more! There are a variety of 4-H shows for all animal lovers, be sure to check the fair website for all showtimes.
This will be taking place at the 123-acre Marion County Fairgrounds, 7300 East Troy Avenue, located just east of I-465 & Southeastern Avenue interchange. Gates open 5pm on weekdays and 12 noon on weekends. General Admission to the grounds is $5 per person; children 5 and under are free, military members with a valid ID are free, and parking always is free in convenient fairground lots.
